Family of Five North Korean Coronavirus Victims Die after Officials Nail Door Shut

The people of North Korea have no access to Coronavirus medical treatment of any kind. They are simply being confined and left to die. LFNKR deplore this inhumane treatment of the North Korean people by their government.

The following is a translation of a shocking news story released by Chosun Ilbo on March 31st  (20:47).

Impact of Wuhan Pneumonia (COVID-19) on North Korea

LFNKR is deeply concerned about the vulnerability of North Korean people to the coronavirus outbreak, since the majority of North Koreans are malnourished and suffer from weakened immunity.  The government in Pyongyang has closed its border with China, leading to extreme supply shortage.  This means that the already starving people are starving more in North Korea.

Former North Korean defector, Kim Soon Hee, now living in Japan, was shocked by a recent program, “Infiltrating North Korea under Economic Sanctions,” and was prompted to send us the following rebuttal:

Letter to President Moon

In November, the South Korean government deported two North Korean squid fishermen.  Furthermore, South Korea decided not to continue co-sponsoring an annual resolution in the United Nations General Assembly condemning North Korea’s rights violations.  LFNKR is deeply concerned about the South Korean government’s recent sign of disengaging from the human rights in North Korea.  LFNKR, therefore, has co-signed the joint letter to President Moon.  Here is the letter:

Inhumane Repatriation

LFNKR strongly protest the forced repatriation of two North Korean fishermen requesting asylum

The Unification Ministry of South Korea has issued a press release stating that on November 7, the government handed over two North Korean fishermen to North Korean officials at the border village of Panmunjeon in the demilitarized zone.

Save North Korean Refugees Day 2019

LETTER OF PETITION

September 24, 2019 is the annual Save North Korean Refugees Day, organized by the North Korean Freedom Coalition. As a member of the Coalition, LFNKR has sent out Letters of Petition to the Chinese embassy and all the consulates in Japan, urging China’s president Xi Jinping to provide North Korean refugees with fair treatment according to the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, a document which China signed and ratified on September 24, 1982.

Being Sold Like Swine

The following is a rough translation of an article written by Ryu In-ha at The Kyunghyang Newspaper.  It is LFNKR’s belief that this article casts light on the situation of North Korean women victimized by human traffickers in China.

Seven out of ten North Korean defectors entering South Korea have been victims of Chinese human traffickers ― that is seventy percent.
